“Quilters” at Church of the Holy Spirit

vintage-quiltsThe Church of the Holy Spirit will present a staged reading of the play Quilters on May 3, 4, 10 and 11, including matinées on Saturdays, May 4 and 11.

The play is about pioneering women who settled the American prairie. It’s also about a women’s art form, the quilts that these women created from girlhood to the end of their lives. Sarah (the mother) asks her daughters to help her make what she knows will be her last quilt. This is a rich, powerful and life affirming piece of theater. There is a lot of love, warmth, humor, and the moving story of simple dignity and courage in the face of adversity. Through the voices of the women, Quilters speaks eloquently of the human spirit in joy and in sorrow.

Evening performances will be at 8:00 pm and the matinées on May 4 and 11 at 3:00 pm.

We are pleased that Linn and Ron Jacoby (who produced the Belle of Amherst last summer) will direct and produce the play, which is a fund-raiser for CHS and Habitat. So please save the dates now!

We would welcome parishioners who can help in distributing promotional material in town. Please call Bill Gardiner (508-255-2326) or Phil Suraci (508-240-2785) if you are able to help.
