The Planned Giving Committee is concerned with securing and maintaining the long term financial health of our church.

The Planned Giving Committee meets monthly, January through May, formulating plans to provide guidelines and information to assist our parishioners with information required to consider our church in their financial decisions. The CHS Planned Giving Committee membership consists of Wes Dreher (Chair), Bob Brimmer, Bill Gardiner, Mary Hammatt, John Holmes, Ernie LaFrance, Fred Plumb, Sue Sasso, and Bob Winter.

The Church of the Holy Spirit is similar to other nonprofit organizations in that we rely on the generous financial support of former parishioners who have included our church in their estate plans. At this time, over 50 members of our church have indicated intent to invest in the financial future of our church.

Planned Giving is the Ministry of the Month in April of each year. Posters describing Planned Giving are displayed in the Parish Hall and pamphlets are available upon request or located in various transepts throughout the church. In addition, members of the Planned Giving Committee are available to answer questions at any time.

Are you satisfied with the returns received on your savings accounts, investments, or certificates of deposit? Would you like to increase your tax advantaged income while including The Church of the Holy Spirit in your Planned Giving plans? A Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) may be your answer. The CGA Worksheet (click to download) provides additional information and current interest rates for your consideration.

Have you considered creating a Family Legacy Plan? Do you have a Will and a Trust and is it up to date? What about your Power of Attorney documents? Have you considered a Planned Gift for the church? Are your named beneficiaries, both primary and contingent, up to date?

Have you scheduled a family meeting to review a Family Legacy Plan with all of the members of your family?

Although members of the Planned Giving Committee cannot provide legal or investment advice, you might find it helpful to review the Family Legacy Worksheet (click to download) which we’ve developed to help parishioners think through the issues involved. It’s always a good time to begin or review your estate plans.
